The Collection contains over 700 textile and leather objects whose primary purpose was to carry or store cargo. According to appearance and purpose, the material is classified into bags, saddlebags (double bags), sacks and textile aids for carrying smaller items (harnesses, knapsacks, straps), money holders, and fabrics intended for making bags or saddlebags. The collected objects were made from the mid-19th to the early 21st century within the framework of local textile handicraft and craft production. Most objects originate from Croatia, followed by those from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia (Vojvodina), Montenegro and Romania. In recent times, the Collection has been replenished with selected pieces from urban areas, craft works, and so-called ethno-bags of contemporary manufacture. Current research is focused on the changes in the use and meaning of bags from the late 19th century to the present day, as well as the revitalization of weaving skills, i.e. the contemporary making of bags as part of the souvenir offer.
